Hellish Crossfire from Nuremberg stirred the thrash underground with their debut “Slaves Of The Burning Pentagram”, and that is just one good reason to re-release this great piece of music. Back in 2006, reviewers were totally enthusiastic about the album, one calling it a “bloody great old school thrash inferno“, one describing it as raw, brutal 80’s thrash/speed metal. Sounds great, right? But that’s only half the story: Hellish Crossfire do not just copy their cherished idols from the heyday of Teutonic thrash metal, they rather head for a very individual, very charismatic sound – “Slaves Of The Burning Pentagram” is based on raw thrash metal, but enriched with a lot of unique ideas, taken from doom, heavy, speed, death and black metal!
“Slaves Of the Burning Pentagram” was recorded at the Rape of Harmonies Studio in Triptis, Germany, in January 2005 and July 2006, and the album was mixed and mastered by Patrick W. Engel (now Temple of Disharmony). Guitarist Iron Incubus remembers those times quite well: “It was an awesome moment to listen to the songs recorded in a proper way for the first time. Patrick W. Engel managed to capture that ‘live’ feeling quite authentically, I think, and he definitely got the best out of us!”
While the first editions on both Vinyl and in the CD format have been sold out for long now, it is about time to make “Slaves Of The Burning Pentagram” available again.
Mit ihrem Debüt “Slaves Of The Burning Pentagram” von 2006 haben Hellish Crossfire sich im Thrash-Underground einen Namen gemacht – da war die Rede von „einem verdammt guten Old-School-Thrash-Inferno“ und „rohem, brutalem 80er Thrash/Speed“ – schon mal nicht schlecht, oder? Aber das ist nur die halbe Wahrheit: Hellish Crossfire kopieren nicht einfach die alten Helden aus der Hochzeit des Thrash. Ihr Sound nimmt Ideen aus Doom, Heavy, Speed, Death und Black Metal auf und kocht daraus ein fettes, ganz und gar eigenständiges Süppchen! Sowohl die erste CD-Version als auch die Vinyl-Edition von „Slaves Of The Burning Pentagram“ sind allerdings schon lange ausverkauft - Zeit also, die Scheibe mal wieder aufzulegen!
„Slaves Of The Burning Pentagram“ wurde im Januar 2005 und Juli 2006 im Rape of Harmonies-Studio in Triptis aufgenommen. Für Mix und Mastering zeichnet Patrick W. Engel (Temple of Disharmony) verantwortlich. Gitarrist Iron Incubus erinnert sich noch gut an die Aufnahmen: „Es war fantastisch, die Songs zum ersten Mal professionell aufgenommen zu hören. Patrick W. Engel hat das Feeling unserer Musik absolut eingefangen und wirklich das Beste aus uns rausgeholt!“
