Founded in the city of Nuremberg, Franconia, HELLISH CROSSFIRE has been around since 2002. One of the secrets for lasting so long without changing members again after 2003, is the fact that they really do things their very own way. „For HELLISH CROSSFIRE we never had and never will have „hired musicians“ or something like that“, guitarist Iron Incubus points out. When the band started, it was just four friends hailing the old Metal Gods and this is still the case today. Mutual respect and a shared vision only add up to this equation. When it comes to naming a genre, HELLISH CROSSFIRE are filed under numerous banners. To keep it simple, Old School Black Thrash Metal is what comes closest to their sound, according to axeman Iron Incubus.
As versatile as the ingredients for their own special blend, is their demand on new songs. So it won't come as a real surprise that before putting out a new record, HELLISH CROSSFIRE “return” with a re-release of their 2010 attempt “Bloodlust Scythe”.
Recorded in 2009, mixed and mastered by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony, all songs remain untouched. Even the artwork done by Marko “Mad Mäxxx” Neumeister appears (with some minor changes) on the re-issue of “Bloodlust Scythe”. “Our second album was the logical development of our debut. The arrangements are more mature without leaving out the raw forces of its predecessor. “Bloodrust Scythe” has opened some more doors for us,” Iron Incubus recalls.
HELLISH CROSSFIRE wurden 2002 im fränkischen Nürnberg gegründet. Eines der Geheimnisse für ihre Langlebigkeit und dafür, dass sie seit 2003 in der selben Besetzung existieren, ist die Tatsache, dass sie ihr ganz eigenes Ding durchziehen. „Bei HELLISH CROSSFIRE gab es und wird es auch nie „angestellte Musiker“ oder so etwas in der Art geben,“ betont Gitarrist Iron Incubus. Als sie angingen, Musik zu machen waren es vier Kumpels, die einfach den alten Metal-Göttern huldigen wollten und das hat sich bis zum heutigen Tag nicht geändert. Gegenseitiger Respekt und eine gemeinsame Vision ergänzen diese Gleichung. Wenn es um eine Gerne-Positionierung geht, wurden HELLISH CROSSFIRE schon in viele Schubladen gesteckt. Der Einfachheit halber ist weil dies dem Sound der Band am nächsten kommt, spricht Iron Incubus gern von Black Thrash Metal der alten Schule.
So vielschichtig, wie die Einflüsse, die ihn ihren ganz eigenen Stil einspielen, ist auch der Anspruch der Musiker an neue Songs. Daher ist es keine allzu große Überraschung, dass vor einem neuem Album, erstmal eine Neuauflage vom Zweitwerk “Bloodlust Scythe” (2010) geben wird. Aufgenommen, gemischt und gemastert wurde die Platte von Patrick W. Engel von Temple of Disharmony. Während das Artwork von Marko “Mad Mäxxx” Neumeister einige geringfügige Änderungen erfuhr, befindet sich die Musik auf der Wiederveröffentlichung komplett im Originalzustand. „Unser zweites Album war für uns die logische Weiterentwicklung des Debüts. Die Arrangements wirkten etwas ausgeklügelter, ohne jedoch die rohe Urgewalt unseres ersten Albums ad acta zu legen. “Bloodlust Scythe” öffnete HELLISH CROSSFIRE noch die eine oder andere Tür und machte uns noch etwas bekannter,” erinnert sich Iron Incubus.
