Hard rock songwriters Tyketto release their sixth studio album, “Closer To The Sun,” via Silver Lining Music, featuring some of their best, superbly crafted rock anthems as the criminally underrated quintet, originally founded in New York, celebrates its comeback. Led by singer and founding member Danny Vaughn, the album was recorded in several studios in the UK and Europe, including Flip Flop Studios and Rockfield in Wales.
Right from the blues-soaked swing and swagger of “Higher Than High,” the deep appreciation for the emancipation that music brings is crystal clear when Vaughn roars: “In the space you can learn to heal/There is music that helps you feel/Higher than high.” Alongside Vaughn, Harry Scott Elliott on guitar, Ged Rylands on keyboards, Chris Childs (Thunder) on bass, and Johnny Dee (Doro) on drums deliver top-notch performances and bring the songs to life. In “Closer To The Sun,” Tyketto speak to listeners about real life, about love, loss, and pleasure. From the triumphant, anthemic celebration of the power of love in the title track to the powerful rawness of “Hit Me Where It Hurts,” which makes fists fly and hearts race, to the power ballad “The Picture,” Tyketto continues to move confidently in the same musical terrain as Whitesnake and Aerosmith, with the added bonus of being new to many ears.
