After the first two Killers albums (“Fils de la Haine” in 1985 and “Danger de Vie” in 1986), Patrice Le Calvez (vocals), Didier Deboffe (guitar), Pierre Paul (Bass) and Michel Camiade (Drums) recruited Sébastien Blanc (guitar) and founded Titan in 1986. Influenced by groups like Accept, Judas Priest, Helloween or Metallica, the group offers Heavy/Speed Metal with lyrics in French.
The same year, Titan recorded its first eponymous album and began a series of concerts in France and Spain. As the highlight of this tour, Titan recorded the live album « Popeye Le Road » in Paris. After a few more dates, Titan disbanded the following year. In 2015, the Greek label No Remorse Records reissued the first LP with five tracks from « Popeye Le Road » and, a few months later, at the request of numerous early fans, Titan is reactivated and played a concert at the Pyrenean Warriors Open Air festival in Torreilles. The reception from the public was incredible and the emotion was there.
What followed was a series of concerts just as remarkable for their fervor, notably during the Vouziers, Sooth Troopers, Rising Fest, Samaïn, DCR Music Cognac, Hellfest, etc. festivals and the decision was made to release a new album. « Palingenesia » is released on 11/26/2021. The 10 titles offered are both a heritage and a continuation of the first part of TITAN's career. The very good reviews in the different magazines prove that the group hit the mark. After the break imposed by covid, the group returns on the live circuit and played numerous shows across France (Firemaster Festival, In Your Fest, Vouziers Festival, Rising Fest, Festival 666 and Hellfest again (Mainstage this time). During this period of 2 years, the line up evolved around Patrice Le Calvez, Sebastien Blanc and Iñaki Plaa with the arrival of Romain Larregain (who replaced Patrice Tetevuide) on guitars and Loïc "Osogaru" Rotureau on bass (who replaced Pascal Chauderon). In November 2023, Patrice Le Calvez announced his decision, for professional and family reasons, to leave Titan after the concerts scheduled for March 2024. The good news is that TITAN will continue with a new singer. Peïo Cachenaut will takes over from Patrice, ready to take up the challenge starting in april 2024 and the year promises to be intense. Titan has been working for some time now on the titles for a future album. Some of these compositions will be performed during the next concerts planned this year as well as all the classics from the 80’s and Palingenesia.
2025 is a special year for Titan. New label partnership with Adipocere Records, new booker Splintering Booking Agency and new studio album scheduled for 2025/31/10.
As previously with Palingenesia, the new album “Lacrimæ Mundi” was recorded with Paxkal Etxepare from may to july, and mastered by Simon Capony of Basalte Studio. The dystopic artwork was designed by Frédéric Steinmetz. The height songs (plus an intro and a bonus track) walk in the footsteps of Palingenesia. Pure Heavy/Speed with different flavours and moods, with lyrics in french talking about our human society and the state of the world. Eagerly waiting for october, Titan hit several stages : three shows in a row in Lyon, Fréjus and Montpellier in april, Vind’hell Fest in may, Headbanger’s Open Air (first ever concert in Germany) in july. Other gigs are planned : Buru Beltz Fest in september, Le Klub in Paris, Festival De Vouziers during which Lacrimæ Mundi will be introduced, Le Magnéto in Bayonne “at home”.
