“Miġja ta’ Moħħ Miġnun” (“Journey of a Mad Mind”) is the latest release from Maltese black metal entity Saħħar, the long-running project led by Marton Saliba.
Rooted in a 16th-century Maltese legend, the album unfolds as a dark concept work tracing the descent of a man obsessed with forbidden knowledge, crossing the boundaries between life, death and madness. Occult rituals, blasphemous visions and supernatural encounters shape a journey suspended between damnation and transcendence.
Musically, Saħħar delivers a dense and immersive wall of sound: mid-paced yet relentless black metal, enriched with atmospheric layers and performed entirely in the arcane Maltese tongue further amplifying the ritualistic and otherworldly nature of the record.
