Description

Matador Records, black double vinyl, This is what millions of fans have been waiting for. Queens Of The Stone Age finally release their new album called "In Times New Roman..." in June 2023. The eighth long player of the band around songwriter, guitarist and singer Josh Homme is raw, at times brutal and a pinpoint punch in the kidneys. An album full of scars and scratches, whose full beauty is only discovered under the rough surface. The extremely biting lyrics are striking. Quite obviously, the last few years full of insecurities and emotional setbacks have not passed Josh Homme without a trace. In addition, the band felt a little lost after the tours for the previous album "Villains" were completed. They couldn't find any new music to inspire them anymore. So with "In Times New Roman..." the quintet created.. exactly the sound it wanted to hear. As so often in the past. The ten new tracks were recorded at Josh Homme's own Pink Duck Studio, with some additional recording taking place at Rick Rubin's legendary Shangri-La studio. Queens Of The Stone Age produced the album independently and got help from Mark Rankin for the mix. A perfect listening sample is provided by the first pre-released single "Emotion Sickness". A hypnotic track with irresistible QOTSA groove and highly emotional lyrics. Longtime collaborator Liam Lynch is responsible for the accompanying lyric video, which is just as much a part of Queens Of The Stone Age as designer Boneface, who created the artwork. "The world will end in a month or two," sings Josh Homme in one of the new songs, raising the question: What are you going to do with the time you have left? Queens Of The Stone Age may not be able to save us, but they sweeten the wait for the end immensely with "In Times New Roman...". "In Times New Roman... is raw, at times brutal, and a spot-on punch to the kidneys that fans of the band love. At the same time, it is perhaps the album that stands out lyrically from their discography to date. Joshua Homme has written his most biting lyrics to date and infused them with the signature QOTSA sound - boards for the ages! "In Times New Roman..." is an album full of scars and scratches, an album full of life, whose full beauty you only discover under the rough surface. With "In Times New Roman..." the band created exactly the sound they wanted to hear. In the meantime, the band felt a little lost, in a world full of autotune, so they went into the studio to make exactly what QOTSA stands for: loud and raw rock. "The world will end in a month or two," Homme sings, raising the question: What are you going to do with the time you have left? Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen, Dean Fertita, Michael Shuman and Jon Theodore just wanted to record a fantastic album. The first single from "In Times New Roman..." is called "Emotion Sickness" and is a hypnotic track with an irresistible QOTSA groove. As the title suggests, it's highly emotional lyrically: the last few years have been tough for everyone, and it's no secret that the members of QOTSA have had to endure their share of heartbreak and loss. But who hasn't had to deal with various bouts of diffuse emotional sickness in recent years? The Liam Lynch-designed video for "Emotion Sickness" will be released Friday morning on QOTSA's YouTube channel. "In Times New Roman..." was recorded and mixed at Josh Homme's own Pink Duck Studio (RIP), with additional recording at Shangri-La. The album was produced by Queens of the Stone Age and mixed by Mark Rankin.
