With "Frail Grasp Of Broken Hands", Phosphorus deliver a debut that goes far beyond the expected. The Saarland band, who have already attracted attention with their festival appearances, do not present themselves as newcomers in search of an identity, but as a mature formation with a clear vision. Musically located in post-black metal, they move thematically between humanity, nature and transience.
The opening title track immediately focuses on heaviness: screams and growls, German and English lyrics and an atmosphere that seems desperate and hopeless. "The Messiah", which begins with folk echoes and culminates in a powerful wall of sound, proves that the band also knows how to use clear vocals intensively. A special feature of the album is its seamless flow - the tracks merge into one another and only unfold their full effect as a whole. Between song titles, lyrics and band names, symbolic references can also be discovered that inspire interpretation. Created by the band themselves, the album impresses with its professionalism, variety and coherent concept. Phosphorus skip the typical discovery phase of many debut bands and immediately position themselves as a serious name in the genre.
