Chicago's Nachtmystium, led by mastermind Blake Judd, made a triumphant return to their black metal roots with their sixth full-length album, Silencing Machine. Released in 2012, this album abandoned the more experimental, psychedelic rock tendencies of their previous work to deliver an album that is "somehow beautiful despite its extremity". Recorded with a seasoned lineup, it is widely considered one of the band's most cohesive and mature albums.
