Following the critically acclaimed, genre-bending masterpiece Assassins: Black Meddle, Part I (2008), Nachtmystium returned to Electrical Audio in Chicago with producer Sanford Parker to deliver a faster, more visceral punch. Doomsday Derelicts was originally released in 2009 to satisfy demand for new material, offering a "post-psychedelic" assault that showed the band’s most black'n'roll oriented side.
