Description

High Roller Records, slipcase, poster, 16 page booklet. Are you in for some time travelling? Legendary thrash/deathers Messiah from Switzerland invite you to their rehearsal space to listen to some original recordings from the years 1985-1987. “Space Invaders” is a journey to the roots of Messiah and reflects their joy of experimentation at that time. All rehearsal recordings have not yet been released and represent some of the songs the way they sounded at the time of composition - and that is often quite different to what they sounded on Messiah’s much-loved debut albums “Hymn to Abramelin” and “Extreme Cold Weather”. The rehearsal recordings on “Space Invaders” are on the one hand a historical document, and on the other hand the instrumental tracks "Maleus Maleficarum" and "The Urologue", which have not yet been released, show what might have happened to MESSIAH if they had not disbanded. Unfortunately, there were no more recordings of vocalist Tschösi's vocals/screams to be found. Nevertheless, the songs give a good impression of what their music would have sounded like after "Extreme Cold Weather". Uninfluenced by the rather sobering reviews of the "renowned metal press", Messiah at that time simply continued to play as they pleased. What is also important: These old recordings from the 80s and have nothing to do with the "noise line-up" of the 90s, with which Messiah are now active again. The restoration of the audio material was done by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony and the artwork was realized by André Türoff, who has done cover artworks for many well-known bands, such as Exumer, Protector and Infernäl Mäjesty. Guitarist Brögi added some new liner-notes, which try to explain why Messiah were fated to disband – but they are back! Messiah have freshly reunited and will play their first gig in ages in September 2019 – but that’s a different story ...
