The year was 1984. In St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, a group of passionate and talented musicians came together under the name KAOS - a band born out of a CBC national talent search competition that would go on to leave a lasting mark on Canadian hard rock. Recording their debut album Total Kaos in a rented basement on a tight budget and 8-track tape, with nothing but raw talent, determination, and a love for the music, they managed to craft something truly special. Originally pressed in a limited run of just 1000 copies on their own independent MOLE Records label in 1985, the album has since become a sought-after rarity among vinyl collectors and hard rock enthusiasts worldwide.
Now, nearly four decades later, Total Kaos is finally getting the reissue it has long deserved. We got in contact with the band through the legendary Swedish guitarist and music historian Janne Stark, who not only made the connection possible but also handled the layout design - ensuring this release sounds and looks better than ever. The reissue comes packed with bonus tracks recorded at Mole Studio, featuring new drummer Dale Penney, Cindy and Rainer on guitars, bass and keyboards, and a re-recorded version of the fan favourite "Mama." The performances speak for themselves.
