By 2022, HULDER had entered a new phase of development, wider in reach and sharper in execution.
‘The Eternal Fanfare’, a five-track, twenty-six-minute mini-album, served as the bridge between the debut album and the full-length expansion that would follow, and it carries the tension of a project actively testing its own limits. The sound is tighter, the low-end more muscular, and the songwriting more varied in its emotional register without losing the icy discipline that defined the earlier work. The title track storms forward with a ferocity close to the classic early nineties template, while "Sylvan Awakening" opens into something more folk-adjacent, an almost Celtic warmth in the riff that catches the ear off guard before the aggression reasserts itself. "Burden of Flesh and Bone" is melodically expansive, its borrowed guitar solo landing like a deliberate mark of ambition, and closer "A Perilous Journey" is the true measure of what the project had become: mournful, measured, built on synths that support rather than lead, and carrying an epic weight that earns its six-minute arc.
The intro, "Curse From Beyond," sets the tone with an atmospheric patience that signals a project comfortable with stillness, content to let the darkness gather before it strikes.
