Eonian Records proudly welcomes Maryland hard rock legends GASTEM to its roster as the band celebrates its 40th anniversary. To mark this milestone, Eonian will re-release GASTEM’s long-out-of-print albums Catch the Flame (1985) and Do It Like Wild (1986) - fully remixed, remastered, and presented in the most definitive way possible.   

Formed in Damascus, Maryland, in 1985, GASTEM quickly made waves with their high-energy sound that helped define the Mid-Atlantic hard rock scene. Featuring Rob Galpin (vocals, guitar, keys), Craig Stegall (drums), Mark Emon (bass, RIP), and Mark Schenker (rhythm guitar, bass, keys, Taurus pedals), the band became a staple of the Baltimore - D.C. - Virginia circuit, headlining packed venues and sharing stages with national acts. Known for their powerful performances and melodic precision, GASTEM earned a devoted following and solidified their place as one of the East Coast’s most beloved underground acts.    The 40th-anniversary reissues include 35 total tracks across both albums, featuring 10 previously unreleased bonus tracks, along with rare archival photos, updated artwork, and a stunning booklet offering exclusive track-by-track commentary from the band. Long remembered as the original home of future KIX bassist Mark Schenker, GASTEM’s return offers fans both a nostalgic time capsule and a revitalized glimpse into their enduring legacy.   

After a decades-long hiatus, GASTEM reunited in early 2024 to record their first album in 34 years, simply titled III. Released via Avalon Street Records in October 2024, the album received critical acclaim and topped the Sentinel Daily “Weekly Top 30” chart for five consecutive weeks. The project was not without heartbreak - before recording began, the band’s original bassist, Mark Emon, passed away suddenly from a heart attack.   

“When Rob got the news that my dear friend Emon had died suddenly… I had to pause,” recalls drummer Craig Stegall. “We were going to scratch the whole idea.” Yet, determined to honor their fallen bandmate, Galpin, Stegall, and Schenker—recently retired after a 23-year run with platinum-selling rockers KIX - came together to finish what they had started. The result was III, a record that captures GASTEM’s signature hard rock power while serving as a heartfelt tribute to their late brother-in-arms.    GASTEM III also marked the band’s official partnership with Eonian Records, setting the stage for an exciting new era. Building on the success of III, Eonian will release a companion album recorded during the same sessions, slated for Fall 2025, alongside the 40th-anniversary reissues of Catch the Flame and Do It Like Wild.
