Born from the creative fusion of vocalist Suzanne Morovich and guitarist Jonathan Paer in 1982, DEATHSLAYER built their identity on authenticity, fantasy lore, and pure metal conviction. Inspired by IRON MAIDEN, OZZY OSBOURNE, and the fearless musicianship of Randy Rhoads, they crafted a sound that was unafraid to challenge the era's commercial trends - even as glam and hair metal threatened to dilute the genre
Their 1983 and 1984 demos - featuring standout tracks like "Journey for Light" and the devastating "Cry of the Swords" - were underground masterpieces that circulated through U.S. and European metal networks, earning airplay on legendary radio shows and prestigious compilation placements alongside OVERKILL, VIRGIN STEELE, NASTY SAVAGE, and TEEZE. The response was overwhelming. The acclaim was deserved.
Yet DEATHSLAYER's legacy remained buried - a hidden chapter in metal history, their vinyl never pressed, their studio recordings scattered across rare demos and fanzine archives.
Now, CULT METAL CLASSICS proudly resurrects these essential recordings for a new generation of metal devotees and Vinyl/CD collectors.
