DARK RIDER rose from the collapse of another band, KRAKEN and turned it into something new. Four young Ottawa musicians, bound by friendship and neighborhood loyalty, poured everything into rehearsals, late-night studio sessions, and 500 cassette tapes carrying their dreams to record labels across the country. They shared stages with ANTHRAX and ANVIL, had friends shout alongside them in the studio, brought in a beloved guitar teacher to lay down organ tracks out of pure love for the songs. No deal ever came. And when love called bassist Chris Johnston away in 1987, Dark Rider simply faded - the band wasn’t able to get
signed and securing a new bassist proved to be difficult.
