Formed in Belfast in 1979 by bassist and singer Ray Haller and later Dio/Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell, Sweet Savage were part of the first wave of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. In contrast to many of their contemporaries such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest or Saxon, they did not release a complete album in their early days and thus became underground legends. At the latest when Metallica covered their song Killing Time, the band achieved cult status. With Bang, Sweet Savage return in absolute fighting form - not here to serve nostalgia, but their roots remain unmistakable: aggressive metal with industrial textures and the DIY ethos of punk.
