Pink Floyd Recordings "The Dark Side Of The Moon" is the eighth long player of Pink Floyd. The album was originally released on March 24, 1973, and was recorded between June 1972 and January 1973 at London's legendary Abbey Road Studios. The concept album is Pink Floyd's most successful record. It lingered in the international charts for several years and sold over 50 million copies to date. London, January 19, 2023 - It is one of the most iconic, influential and best-selling albums of all time: "The Dark Side Of The Moon." On March 24, it will be 50 years to the day that Pink Floyd released their seminal work in Germany (March 1 in the US / March 16 in the UK). This special date will be celebrated with the release of a new deluxe box set to be released by Warner Music on March 24, 2023. "The Dark Side Of The Moon" has lost none of its popularity to this day and continues to fascinate new generations of listeners: inside. Pink Floyd developed the album at the time partly in the context of their live performances, which led to the fact that an early version of the suite celebrated its live premiere at London's Rainbow Theatre a few months before the studio recordings began. "The Dark Side Of The Moon" is Pink Floyd's eighth studio album and was recorded at EMI Studios (now Abbey Road Studios) in London in 1972 and 1973. The iconic album cover, featuring a white beam of light refracted in a prism of spectral colors, was designed by Storm Thorgerson of Hipgnosis and drawn by George Hardie. "The Dark Side Of The Moon" has sold over 50 million copies worldwide. The new deluxe box set includes the CD and gatefold vinyl of the 2023 remastered studio album, plus a Blu-ray + DVD with the original 5.1 mix and the remastered stereo versions. Another new Blu-ray features an Atmos mix of the album, plus CD and LP versions of "The Dark Side Of The Moon - Live At Wembley Empire Pool, London, 1974." A complete overview of all configurations can be found below. "The Dark Side Of The Moon - Live At Wembley Empire Pool, London, 1974" will also be available separately on CD and, for the first time ever, on vinyl from March 24. The live recording was made in November 1974 as part of the band's winter tour and is now available for the first time as a stand-alone album. The cover features a line drawing created by George Hardie in 1973. Fans of high-quality coffee table books can also look forward to the release of an accompanying volume curated by photographer Jill Furmanovsky, art directed by Hipgnosis co-founder Aubrey Powell, and designed with input from the band members. The book is published in LP format and features rare and previously unpublished photos taken during the "Dark Side Of The Moon" tours from 1972 to 1975. A review of the Wembley concert from October 1972, published in Melody Maker at the time, also provides insight into one of Pink Floyd Floyd's most famous performances, plus a full listing of tour dates. The book "Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon: 50th Anniversary" will also be available from March 2023 and will be published via Thames & Hudson. Not only by the iconic Prisma cover you know: Pink Floyd were always also a visually groundbreaking band. To mark the 50th anniversary of "The Dark Side Of The Moon," the band is therefore inviting a new generation of animators to take part in a special competition: to create new music videos for each of the 10 songs on the iconic album. The band has been working with animators since the beginning of their career (Emes, Gerald Scarfe, among others), and in some cases the visual underpinnings of the songs have become as legendary as the music itself. The 50th anniversary will continue this tradition. On February 27, 1973, EMI Records held a press conference at the London Planetarium to unveil Pink Floyd's new album, "The Dark Side Of The Moon," to the world public for the first time. Although the planetarium's dome could only show a selection of stars, constellations and cosmic images to the sounds of the music, the event was a resounding success. Fifty years later, technology has made huge advances. So you can expect great things when, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this iconic album, it's off to the planetarium once again. And this time, it's not just in London: planetariums around the world are opening their doors for a 42-minute dome experience featuring stunning images of the solar system and beyond, set to the sounds of "The Dark Side Of The Moon." For more details on the screening, contact local planetariums. You can look forward to a presentation that is chronologically divided into ten parts, analogous to the album titles. Each part has a different main theme - some futuristic, others a retro reference to the visual history of Pink Floyd. What all parts have in common is that they revolve around an experience of time and space, taking advantage of the latest technologies that only a planetarium can provide. "The Dark Side Of The Moon" at the Planetarium, this is an immersive experience, an all-encompassing surround sound and visual treat that leaves reality (and the 2D experience) far behind for 42 precious minutes.
