THE 1988 CULT RELEASE OF INFLUENTIAL CRUST THRASH METAL FROM THE UK's AXEGRINDER.
UK legends Axegrinder appeared in the first wave of classic Peaceville bands at the end of the 1980’s, & came to the label’s attention via shows in London where they were sharing the bill with some of the punk bands which original Peaceville label-boss Paul “Hammy” Halmshaw played in at the time.
‘The Rise of the Serpent Men’ was recorded at Lion Studios in Leeds in 1988, & released the same year. Their strong ‘Amebix’-like crust/grind sensibility appealed to punks and metallers alike, and their debut album, ‘The Rise of the Serpent Men’ also featured some artwork contributions created by Jeff Walker of UK metal masters Carcass. Axegrinder gained a strong cult following in countries such as Japan over the years, and the follow-up album surfaced two decades later, in the shape of comeback release, 'Satori'.
This CD edition of ‘The Rise of the Serpent Men’ is presented with its original artwork, including full lyrics.
