Back On Black proudly unleashes a definitive reissue of Ancient's cult classic 1997 opus, Mad Grandiose Bloodfiends. Long-awaited by extreme metal collectors, this reissue returns in two pristine physical editions: a dynamic audio CD and a stunning limited red vinyl double LP housed in a gatefold jacket.
Originally released via Metal Blade Records in 1997, Mad Grandiose Bloodfiends captures the Norwegian black metal pioneers at their most theatrical, atmospheric, and unhinged. Helmed by mastermind Aphazel alongside vocalist/drummer Lord Kaiaphas and vocalist Erichte, the record blends ferocious black metal core with sweeping keyboards, gothic pianos, and avant-garde cinematic flair.
From the sweeping dread of "Malkavian Twilight" to the vampiric march of "Vampirize Natasha", this album remains a high-water mark of 90s symphonic extreme metal experimentation.
